His Girthiness (I’m FAT!)
His Girthiness. It’s a term of affection that I use for myself…..it sort of helps me deal in a trivial way with my weight gain over the past 7 years. It’s a sore spot with me. I should have never let myself get like this. And for the larger part of my diet, I stay away from fattening foods! So, how did I become “His Girthiness”?
Here’s the short version.
I work from home, so I’m sitting in front of a computer for a minimum of 8 hours a day. Minimum 8? Yes. Other than my ‘job’ (I do medical coding for a large hospital organization), I write and record music. So, I basically just roll my chair to the other end of my desk and do my music…..not very active. Then there’s my 2 nemesis ‘cheese fries’ and ‘beer’. And when I put the 2 together (as I should, they are such a delight that way) as I usually do it is a perfect storm of caloric intake bound to add on a few pounds a few times a week. Gads!
I just want my boyish figure back again…..
My beer consumption increase came into play about 8 years ago with the arrival of a visitor that consumed large daily quantities of this delicious beverage. So, I’d sit around chat and drink. He was also a rapid consumer. He could waste away a 12oz. beer in the blink of an eye. And being the nice guy he was, he would refresh mine too. So, I steadily learned to consume beer at a faster pace. Not a bad thing in the heat of Florida as the beer would become warm if you were outdoors just sipping……coozy or not.
These 2 pictures represent about a 35 lb. difference.
So, can I blame someone else and just sort of continue in this vein. HELL NO!!!
Oh, by the way. I’m one of those people that doesn’t like to waste food or beverage. So, if it’s put in front of me, it will be consumed. I grew up with my parents telling me to eat all that’s on my plate because there were children in China starving from not having food to eat. Yep, that’s true! So, I can blame my parents too!!!
His Girthiness (I’m FAT!)
Here’s where I’m at today. I’m 211.6 lbs., 31.2% body fat, 26.3% muscle mass, and a BMI of 31.2. This is down by 18% since October 28, 2015 when I was 217.4 lbs., a measly 6 lbs. So, here’s my plan for all to see. Starting now, I’m gonna set the goal of losing 30 lbs. in 30 days. And I’m not gonna ‘STARVE’ myself either. I also have a guide for my nutritional intake. I’ll be using Tim Ferriss’s slow carb diet in his famous “The 4-Hour Body” book. I’m also gonna start a workout routine; M,W,F, I will lift weights (got a bit of a feel for it last week so I know amount and the reps for work to have an effect). T & Th. I’ll be using the Kettleball with his described method in his book. According to Tim, just using the ‘slow carb diet’ I could lose 20 lbs in 30 days. So, I figure if I add exercise I’d accelerate the process. Let’s see what happens. And this includes being bad one day a week!
For my height and age my healthy weight range is 128-162!!!! Good gosh!! Broad! How do they come up with this shit! I thought 178 would be a good weight! Buttttttt! I’ll reset my goal and head for 160. Well, we’ll see. Right now, I’m considered ‘Obese’. Man, I really don’t like that word….. I have 50 lbs to lose. This will put my BMI in a range of 19-24. Lower my blood pressure (I am presently hypertensive), I also have an elevated blood sugar (could lead to diabetes), joints ache (not helping carrying extra weight around). I will do this and I WILL NOT QUIT!
No more Girthiness
Everyday when I blog, at the end of my blog, I’ll post a mini-update. Hey! I’m betting it will work!
Peace, love, and beaches,
