Thank You Jesus……….!!!

Thank You Jesus……….!!!

STOP!!!!  It’s not your normal story….give me a chance.

You see, I’m here in Mexico.  Finding my way on my drive to Puerto Morelos/Playa del Carmen and some roads are great……some are just, well pathetic is putting it nicely. So, get this!

I’m driving Hwy. (yeah, highway…) 180 and it was tough going from the start.  The road is in dire need of repair.  Pot holes…..did I mention pot holes.

Enter Jesus.

I’m at a fuel stop getting tanked up and not knowing when my next fill-up might be.  And I made the acquaintance of a Mexican gentleman of small stature that was driving a truck.  His name was Jesus.  We chatted about where I was from (Florida) and where I was going when he asked if I’d traveled this way before, to which I answered ‘no’.  I think he already could read my face and the wear of my thus far short drive.

He made the kindest gesture to me…….Jesus said, “Follow me.  I know the way.  The road is narrow and filled with many problems. I will guide you thru and see you safely on your way.”  WOW, I thought.  So, I accepted Jesus’ kind invite and we shook hands and on our way we went.

Now, Jesus was so important during this part of the drive because I was unaware of the dangers……serious dangers that the road would hold.  He knew the way…..for him the path was familiar.  He really lifted my spirit during our encounter in the parking lot. I was clearly out of my league.  Yet, it was if the weight of the world had been lifted off my shoulders.

Thank you Jesus!

On the road.  I kept my eyes fixed on Jesus.  As he said, the road was narrow and some places were narrower than others and the dangers weren’t so obvious.  He steered me clear of the holes that were paved along the way.  He got between me and the unknown oncoming dangers with the swiftness and power of an experienced warrior.  At one point the road was so narrow, that just the trembling of my body seemed to make portions of the road slide away from under my wheels.  Yet, Jesus was steady and patient making sure that I stayed near and I became merely an observer along the way.  It was if Jesus took the wheel!!!  He was in control and I was his willing follower.

I know this may sound as if the dangers weren’t real…..but folks, it was a nightmare.  He lead me away from some of the various enticements and appeals of the roadside seductions.  It was clear (afterwards that the beauty I saw also held many dangers.

I’m happy I met Jesus (pronounced, “hey sus”).  He was a life saver.  I’m confident I will meet more Jesus’ along the way, for now I’m grateful to the one I met.

Thank you Jesus!

Peace, Love, and Beaches,

John
