It’s No Longer ‘Seize the Day’, It’s Now ‘Grab the P….!’

Seize the day just seemed such an appropriate quote until just recently…….Now there seems to be a much more powerful and what do I want to say…….hmmmmmmmm  more manly(?) phrase…….nah, more exquisite way, nah……., different!  That’s it different.

Russell Crowe recently started his speech with a variance of this term at the American Cinematheque Awards show. Here it is,’ Let’s grab this night by the pussy’. There was no condemnation from anyone, and there’s none here. Besides, I always thought ‘boys will be boys’ and Russell surely is one of the ‘boys’.

I’m not sold on changing ‘Seize the day’ to ‘Grab the (here it is, close your ears if this naughty word offends) pussy’!  I just don’t know.  I’m not sold.  It’s not that I don’t like pussy, because I do. I’m a big ‘fan’.  I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t ‘grabbed’ it before…..and I’m not talking about Puck (Puck was my house cat, make that I was his house human before moving to Mexico).  I could elaborate, but I’m trying to keep this area of my life (my blog) as PG as possible.

‘Seize the day’ has been with us for such a long time and it has served us well.  Why change?  ‘Carpe diem’!!!  Seems so powerful in Latin, as well as it sounds so ‘take charge’.  Go ahead say it, ‘Carpe diem’!!!  You can ‘feel’ it. ‘Grab ad pussy’, that’s Latin also.  Grab the pussy…….say it.  Go ahead, don’t be shy ‘Grab ad pussy’.  If you can’t just because you don’t know Latin, go to Google Translate and in English type in ‘Grab the pussy’ translating into Latin and there you’ll find a little speaker icon, press it and you’ll hear it in Latin!  ‘Grab ad pussy’ or ‘Capto Pussy’!  It does have a nice sound about it, I’m rethinking this…..I like the way it sounds.  Everyone, well most everyone has a really good feeling about pussy.  Perhaps, we as a nation should give this a try.  But only in Latin, the boldness of saying it in English sounds a bit naughty.  There’s an eloquence having heard it in Latin.

Seize the day.  It’s commanding.  Carpe diem.  It to is commanding.  Do you ever think it will be replaced?  To me, it’s such a WOW statement!  So affirmative.  Besides it is a bit more universally applicable.  While Grab the pussy isn’t if you’re a gay man.  Doesn’t work.  Nor do I think we should engage in a ‘gay friendly’ version….might be a bit much.  Although I can hear them all in my head!!  Hehehehehe

For right now, I’m gonna stay with ‘seize the day’ or the Latin version ‘carpe diem’.  But, I’m not gonna throw out the Latin phrase ‘Grab ad pussy’.  I’m gonna practice it along with my Spanish.  There may be a moment, who knows, when ‘Grab ad pussy’ will be appropriate.  Never say never.

Just to let you in on two other language versions that…..well they really miss the mark.  French “Prenez la chat”….plug it in and listen.  Spanish “Coge el coco”.  Neither does anything for me ……but the Latin, especially with the female voice Google provides is rather appealing to the ears.  Hehehehe.

So, whether your charge slogan is ‘Seize the day’ or ‘Grab the pussy’, if it gets you where you got to go…..do it!

Pizza anyone?dsc_0368a

Peace, love, and beaches,

John
