I Am Adding Yoga To My Life
My life, my new life in my Yoga adventure. I do want experienced Yoga practitioners input……so please openly help.
This really isn’t a sudden thing….although I’m suddenly implementing it. I’ve held an interest in Yoga for quit a while. And I’m way late on pursuing. Yoga would have probably had a much needed impact on my life over at least the past 20 years than I can possibly imagine. But, as I believe…..it’s never too late.
No, I’m not taking any personal lessons……. No, I’m not seeking anyone’s advice…….. Let’s just say I have my resources and that’s my focal and starting points.
And although I’ve been reading…..I’m not sure what I’m getting myself into!
One thing that stands out is a picture of Alec Baldwin after his encounter with Yoga. His wife is a Yoga instructor. But, that’s only one aspect. There are other benefits that I want to explore. Aging and realizing my new found restrictions is a motivator. I see Yoga as an answer.
I know that I’ll have some struggles……but actually I’m looking forward to those struggles and the changes that’ll come about both inward and outward. I’ve found no reason not to go forward. I only see good.
I Am Adding Yoga To My Life
Sometimes between today and tomorrow I’ll add a new menu item to my blog site where I’ll make separate entries of my Yoga journey. It seems logical to track my adventure……and why not make it public. Perhaps it will do so good for someone.
Now…..WARNING!!! I’m a beginner!!! If you want to make any comments, you’re welcome to…..just understand that I’m a work in progress.
I’m not interested in accelerating my approach to Yoga. This is something I want to understand, appreciate and incorporate into my life for long term. Don’t assume you know something about me as to tell me what to do, how to do or anything like that. Simply enjoy my innocence of discovery and use it to your advantage. Everything I do someone can see a better way to do, a quicker way, a more efficient way, or perhaps just stir up a memory of their beginning adventure with Yoga.
Help me enjoy my experience. Okay?
It all starts with Basics!
What is Yoga? I’m gonna get this so bear with me……. Yoga is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines which originated in ancient India. Slow down,……I know you may want to add, just be gentle. I know there’s more to say here. AND Actually I want your input believe it or not. Just keep right and wrong out of it.
I’ve 3 disciplines to tackle. Slowly I’ll build. Perhaps there will be that time that I’ll advance faster than others……who knows? I’m not looking that far in advance. I’m here in this moment and that’s what I can control.
I know there are different practices of Yoga in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. But I don’t know the differences. That’s for later on. I’m also aware of the most well-known types of yoga are Hatha yoga and Raja yoga. Just here gets a bit confusing for me. The one Yoga I’ve heard of the most is ‘Hatha’, but I seem compelled to lean toward Raja.
So, my first encounter educational wise will be what’s the difference. I’m not sure of goals to reach for yet….this is a get acquainted time for me.
I know or think I know I should say that Yoga is a union of my little self ‘Atman’ with my larger self ‘Brahman’. I’ll seek the intimacy of these and engage my learning.
I have to start somewhere and sometime
As I’m closing….I must say, I’m intrigued. Here’s what I’m coming away with, and please any experienced Yoga people that may drop by…..I could use your help here and you’ll see why after I’ve completed what I’m about to say. Hatha Yoga is the physical yoga intended to balance and harmonize my body while Raja Yoga is the science of physical and mental control.. Can’t I do and accomplish both?
You see, my innocence and novice is showing up.
