I’m Exploring On The Internet

I’m Exploring On The Internet

That’s right, I’m exploring on the internet this morning.  And what am I exploring?  Lots.  Whatever comes to mind, I’ve got reasons.

Is it because I have nothing better to do?  No, that’s not it.  This is what I have to do at the moment.  I’m just gonna give you a little insight to how, and hopefully why I do this.

Let’s start with the first 2 biggies.

First off…….my stock trading brokerage firm says that I must spend at least 6 months in the U.S. to be able to actively trade.  Trading is what I do…..well, it’s one of the things I do.  I’ve done a little research (without setting off alarms) as to why.  But I haven’t been able to find out specifically.  When I get back to the states shortly I’ll sit down with the brokerage firm eye to eye and inquire on this issue.

And that’s not my exploring that I’m referring to.  What I’ve been exploring is real estate property and homes mostly in South Louisiana. The answer to why on that is because it’s where our family lives.  Get close but not too close. Hehehehehe.

So, I need to find a part-time home that family can watch over for us when we’re gone.  It has to be inexpensive and able to store some of our travel stuff….plus my music equipment and art.

I’ve got lots of time…..there’s the refiling for Temporary Residency in Mexico sometime in September (this is an annual thing) and driving back to the states around the 20th of November for a 2-month holiday stay.  Then Europe before returning to Mexico.  Leaving the car behind with the youngest daughter, she needs a better vehicle for her and her children.

The second thing I was exploring and have been, is getting my car out of Mexico as safely and cheaply as possible.

What do I mean?  When I came to Mexico I had to purchase a TIP (Temporary Import Permit) and during the process of acquiring my Temporary Residency (a confuddling process) I neglected to renew my TIP and it expired.

I didn’t think much of that until at a bar a Canadian lady got to talking and she brought up about expired TIPs and having cars confiscated leaving Quintana Roo.  Needless to say, this got my attention.  That was back in December of 2016.  So I checked with some expat Facebook pages and got so many different opinions that I just wanted to cry. After a little while, I had to take a break and sort of just enjoyed myself here in paradise and regroup.

During this downtime, I did take in a couple readings on the TIP situation and came away with the understanding that my vehicle was safe to move about the country as long as my Temporary Residency was valid.  I checked and double checked and this seems to be my answer, but I wanted to hear from a reliable final source, the Mexican Government.

After my regrouping process, I decided to contact the government on this issue. So, after contacting the office from the first government website I got a response!!!  YAY!!!  They instructed me to contact another site and provided me with the email.  Okay, I understand…..next, I contacted the new email I was given. That was 8 weeks ago.  Sadly, I’ve not got an answer-back.

One thing I’ve left out is that traveling from state to state is government controlled.  Federal Customs Police man the border stations.

Law interpretation varies in Mexico.

Another thing I explored today was Presidential Impeachment.

It seems that every opposition to President Trump wants to impeach him.  I don’t quite understand why.  Well, I do know they dislike him as a person and he is an outsider that stands to upend the old political narrative.

Ah!  I thought, ‘how many presidents have been impeached!!

The answer is 2.  Only 2 in our history and neither was President Nixon.  President Andrew Johnson in 1868 for violating Tenure of Office Act and President Bill Clinton for perjury and obstruction of justice in 1998.  Neither resulted in removal from office.  I’m sure President Trump has been informed of this information and isn’t too much worried.

So, there you have it…..I got some of my answers and my exploring will continue.

Adios!

Peace, love, and beaches,

John
